The Delores Project, a safe-haven for adult homeless women, has opened a new overnight facility in Denver, Colorado as part of Denver's 10-Year Plan to End Homelessness
Since its foundations were laid last January of 2000, The Delores Project has provided overnight shelter in temporary, donated locations until a 2,000 square foot building was purchased from the City of Denver. After renovations and expansions, a 8,000 square foot facility designed to provide emergency shelter for homeless women and would provide a permanent, year-round shelter for 50 women, with overflow space for an additional 25 women, was put up.
The Delores Project is named for a homeless woman who died on the street.
